Ready-to-Wear
The Gardan Barong cut is a new interpretation of the 1970’s redesign created by Pierre Cardin for the infamous dictator, Ferdinand Marcos. It trickled down to street fashion very quickly and was known as the Gardan cut (“Cardin” but with a Filipino accent). It features a fully open covered button placket up front, shoulder yoke and shaping darts in the back that open up to double back vents. Slim cut and easy to wear, this modern classic is always flattering.
This version of the Gardan has long sleeves, and we even brought back the long 70s chic butterfly collar. Like many on-trend barongs in the 70s, we did a small repeating motif of the iconic Philippine Anahaw leaf, even on the corner of each collar.
Each Long-Sleeves Gardan Barong (Scattered Anahaw) is handcrafted by the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines. Hand-manipulated machine embroidery is also done in in-house.
